CAGAYAN de Oro City--Seventeen former communist rebels on Wednesday received cash assistance amounting to P 10,000.00 each from the local government unit of Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, the military said.
Lt. Cecille C. Tappa, the spokesperson of the army’s 26IB in Prosperidad, said that the cash distribution was initiated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWD) in coordination with the military.
He said that the PSWD forms part of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) headed by provincial governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. of Agusan Del Sur.
