Misamis Oriental – In a significant stride towards addressing post-harvest losses in the province, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 10 has officially turned over the Mobile Modular Food Processing Facility to the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental.
The turnover ceremony, gracefully received by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Rey Buhisan and Provincial Agriculture Office Head Dr. Benjamin Resma on behalf of Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia, took place at the Ane-I Claveria Misamis Oriental Center for Sustainable Development, highlighting the pressing need for processing facilities to combat post-harvest losses.
With a total cost exceeding twenty-one million pesos (Php. 21,247,438.00), this facility stands as a crucial asset in enhancing the province’s product quality. Selected by DOST, Misamis Oriental emerges as the beneficiary of this initiative, aimed at mitigating food waste—a prevailing challenge in the province.
Under the leadership of Governor Unabia, along with the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental and DOST officials, the event addressed vital agricultural concerns.
This initiative aligns with Governor Unabia’s Paglaum Development Agenda, particularly in the Agriculture Development for Poverty Eradication initiative, signifying a proactive step towards fostering agricultural sustainability and economic empowerment in the province. (by Gerry Lee Gorit)
