DOT Secretary bent on promoting Mindanao Tourism

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco is hell bent on promoting Mindanao tourism to support the local tourism industry in the island.

Secretary Frasco was here in Cagayan de Oro and graced the opening salvo of the 3-day “Mindanao Tourism Expo that will be held at Limketkai Mall from April 26-28, 2024.

She said one of the biggest priorities of the Marcos administration is to promote local tourism all over the country, and eventually help the local businessmen, entrepreneurs other sectors to start earning a living thru the benefits of the local tourist destinations.

“Malipayon kaayo ta kay nakita nato nga ang tibuok kalibutan nagmahal gyud sa Pilipinas kay bag o lang nato na achieve ang Two Million mark sa atong tourist arrivals,” Frasco glad said.

Frasco is hopeful that the country can achieve it’s 7.7 target mark by the end of this year.

MINDANAO TOURISM EXPO

Secretary Frasco said the purpose of Mindanao Tourism Expo (MTEx 2024) is to give local tourism industry to develop and create its own local tourism potentials and be able to crate jobs and business opportunities.

She thanked Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M Unabia for his own initiative in developing tourism in his province.

“Dako kaayo ang akong pasalamat kang Governor Peter M. Unabia tungod kay nakita gyud nko ang iyang panlantaw sa turismo sa iyang probinsya. Buot nya nga mahatagan pa ang iyang katawhan ug dugang panginabuhian pinaagi sa turismo,” Frasco said.

Frasco also thanked CDO Mayor Rolando Uy, Misamis Oriental First District Cong Christian S. Unabia, VM Jocelyn Rodriguez, and Congresswoman Roque of Bukidnon, DOT-10 Regional Director Marie Elaine Salvana Unchuan

POLITICIANS ARE A BIG HELP

Secretary Frasco said the involvement of governors, mayors, and all other local politicians are a big help in the promotion of local tourism industry.

“Dako usab atong pasalamat sa mga gobernadores, mayores ug tanang local politicians kay dako kaayo ilang matabang sa pagpalambo sa local tourism,” she concluded.
