BUTUAN CITY—The first day of the Creative Caraga Festival, which opened yesterday at the South Atrium, Robinsons Place Butuan, was a resounding success.
The Creative Caraga Festival serves as a platform where people from across the Caraga Region can witness the diverse talents of artists from nine domains through exhibits placed in the area. Visitors can see crafts, paintings, images, applications, and local foods from the region.
In a message delivered by DTI-Caraga Regional Director Gay Tidalgo, the creation of such an activity is a way to support and commit to the region’s diverse artists. “It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I welcome you all to the first ever Creative Caraga Festival organized by the Department of Trade Industry-Caraga. This festival is a beacon of creativity, innovation, and cultural celebrations within our beloved region. At the heart of our gathering, lies a profound commitment to nurturing and advancing the creative industries in our region.”
RD Tidalgo also highlighted a law that supports artists in the country. “The commitment is rooted in the recently enacted Philippine Creative Industry Development Act, so dear artist you will no longer worry because there is a law, there is a law enacted just for you to develop you, or help you develop,” further stated RD Tidalgo.
During the first day, the Ceremonial Expression of Commitment for the Development of the Creative Industry in Caraga was also held, where a puzzle entitled “Creative Caraga Festival” needed to be completed by DTI Caraga representatives along with representatives from the nine domains. This activity was done to recognize the creativity in Caraga and to show support for the coming years.
Apart from the DTI-Caraga representatives, there were also representatives from various cities and municipalities. Caraga ICT Council Councilor Cherry May Busa was also present to show support for the nine domains of the Creative Caraga Festival.
The activity will continue until tomorrow, February 22nd. People are encouraged to visit the booths of the nine domains to see the creativity of Caraga’s artists.
