The National Government has named Cebu City, Iligan City and Butuan City as the top three highly urbanized cities in the country, top officials said.
The information was confirmed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Competitive Index.
Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao proudly announced that out of the 33 Local Government Units (LGUs), Iligan has secured its position among the top three, alongside Cebu and Butuan, as the Most Improved LGU. The remarkable leap forward was achieved through relentless efforts and commitment to progress. Iligan City has risen from the 33rd to the 26th spot in the National Competitiveness Index, reflecting the city’s dedication and strategic promotional initiatives.
Siao, now in his first term as Mayor of the City of Iligan, brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as the city’s Congressman during the 17th and 18th Congresses.
“This indicates a big change in our management of local government, a tribute and testament to the hard work and dedication of our public servants, community leaders, and every Iliganon who has contributed to our progress. It is also a reminder of our belief in growth, innovation, and excellence,” Siao said.
