VICE PRESIDENT SARA DUTERTE-CARPIO and Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) personally visited and extended her condolences to the families of Joel Reformado, head teacher of Damalasak Elementary School in Pikit, North Cotabato.
Reformado suffered several gunshot wounds that hit different parts of his body that caused his untimely death when he was shot last May 30, police authorities said.
His co-teacher who was driving the motorcycle identified as Elton John Lapined survived after he was rushed to the hospital for surgical and immediate treatment.
As reported earlier through “Inday Sara Duterte FB Page revealed that last February many students were victims of this gun violence, which was the cause why dropout rates of enrollment in Pikit Schools were noted because of fear.
It could be recalled that the victim and wounded DepEd employees of Damalasak Elementary School were busy organizing a peace camp program which will be held the next day, but violence hindered them from realizing their plans.
Meanwhile, DepEd Secretary Duterte formally opened the 9th VP Sara Satellite Office in Cotabato in a simple ceremony through Ribbon-Cutting led by her assistant Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim and Maguindanao
Governor Abdulraof “Gob Sam” A. Macacua and other local officials in attendance.
VP Sara in her brief speech said the opening of this 9th Satellite Office in Cotabato aims to ensure effective delivery services to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in the field.
In response, Chief Minister Ebrahim assured full support to fully implement the various program of VP Sara like “Mag Negosyo Ta”, “Pagbabago Campaign”, “Kalusugan Food Truck”, “Good Nutritional Feeding Program” and “Calamity Response under the Disaster Operation Centers”.
Sara also announced that other OVP Satellite Offices established in the entire country now in operation can be found in Bacalod, Isabela, Dagupan, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Davao and Tandag in Surigao del Sur. ###
