Vice President Sara Duterte has advised her family members to secure their valuables amid concerns that authorities may conduct search operations at their homes.
Duterte issued the warning following unverified reports of possible searches, expressing fears that such operations could be used to plant evidence. “Secure your valuables and just allow them to do the search,” she reportedly told her siblings, urging them to remain calm and cooperative should such a situation arise.
Her concerns stem from what she described as a pattern of political harassment, drawing parallels to the case of expelled lawmaker Arnolfo Teves Jr., who was accused of murder. Duterte suggested that similar tactics might be used against her family as legal battles surrounding her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, continue to unfold.
The warning comes at a time of heightened political tension, particularly with the ongoing case against the former president at the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he faces charges of crimes against humanity related to his administration’s anti-drug campaign.
While no official search warrants have been confirmed, Duterte’s statement indicates growing unease within the family amid ongoing legal and political challenges.
