Cebu City, Philippines – Supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte gathered in Cebu City for a “Unity Mass” and walk, expressing their solidarity with the former leader as he faces charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The event, led by former Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and gubernatorial candidate Pamela Baricuatro, began with a mass presided over by Fr. Ciano Ubod at St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Barangay Mabolo. Following the religious gathering, attendees participated in the “Cebu Unity Walk,” carrying banners and chanting messages of support for Duterte.
The demonstration comes amid ongoing proceedings at the ICC, where Duterte faces allegations of crimes against humanity related to his controversial anti-drug campaign during his presidency. His supporters argue that the charges are politically motivated and have continued to hold rallies and prayer gatherings in different parts of the country.
Organizers of the event emphasized that the unity walk was a peaceful demonstration of gratitude and loyalty to Duterte, who remains a widely popular figure in Cebu and other regions of the Philippines.
As the former president awaits the next stage of his ICC case, his supporters have vowed to continue holding similar activities, reinforcing their call for justice and expressing their unwavering backing for the former leader.
