The RCCDO-Capitol University Scholarship Project is an initiative of Project Chairman PP Jim Casiño that started during his term in Rotary Year 2020-2021. It was launched as the club was coming back out from the pandemic lockdowns with the aim of providing a poor family with the means to pursue a high-quality education for one of their children.   A partnership with Capitol University through the efforts of one of their owners and club member Rotarian Popo Juarez was subsequently formed. PP Jim then acquired the commitment of five (5) generous Rotarians to each donate Php10,000 per year for five years on behalf of RCCDO, until the scholar graduates. The remaining expenses are then shouldered by Capitol University.   After a selection process involving interviews and information reviewby a committee, Ms. Criza Mae Taboclaon was awarded the Civil Engineering Course scholarship. She began her education at the start of school year 2021-2022 and is currently in her fourth year of the 5 year course.   On August 1, 2024, RCCDO invited Ms. Criza to the meeting to traditionally address the club at the start of her school year. RCCDO then donated an additional Php7,000 as her startup budget for school supplies and other needs which the club has done every year.   As a program enhancement in RY2024-2025, Ms. Criza was included in the mentoring support group of the Pabalon Nga Paglaum Scholarship Project (USTP). She will be mentored by PP Jim and PP Tina Casiño throughout the school year to address any emotional and mental challenges she may face in the school year.
