PRO BAR attends turnover ceremony results of SGA plebiscite, lauds troops for securing the events peacefully


COTABATO CITY – POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL PREXY D. TANGGAWOHN, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), together with Police Colonel (PCOL) JULIUS S. ORDONA,
attended and witnessed the launching of the Registration Anywhere Program and Ceremonial Turnover of Plebiscite held at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao Del Norte, Officials of TeamPROBAR said.

Tanggawohn said “I congratulate and laud our troops who were deployed to help secure the Special Geographical Area (SGA) plebiscite which was successfully conducted last April 13 to ratify the creation of new towns.”

As reported by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the people of the SGA have spoken and made their choice during the plebiscite last April 13,2024. Out of 89,594 registered voters of the participating barangays, a total 58,970 voted with 38,047 voted “YES” to ratify the creation of the eight new municipalities while only 103 voted “No” for an overall voter turnout of 53.27 percent, the report said.

Comelec Commissioner In-Charge Aimee P.Ferolino  for the plebiscite, gave her turnover message and handed the SGA plebiscite results to BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim and later expressed her gratitude during the momentous occasion.

In response, Ebrahim said as “Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Government, I am humbled and deeply honored by the extraordinary display of the trust and confidence by the constituents of the SGA and the leadership of the BARMM.

The turnover ceremony on the results of the plebiscite was also graced by Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casaquejo, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. ,Presidential Adviser on Peace Reconciliation and Unity, Maguindanao Del Norte governor Abdulrauf Macacua including top officials and members of the AFP.

It is believed that the cornerstone and democracy lies in the active participation of its citizens. The voters registration is mainly the first step of the democratic process, this empowers the people to exercise  the right to suffrage and by doing so, it contributes to the building of the future of our nation and the future of Bangsamoro, governor Macacua emphasizes.

Tanggawohn also congratulated the troops from PRO 12 who took the lead in the security preparations, as well as the AFP, Local government units of Region  12 and BARMM especially to the people of SGA for exercising their right to vote and be heard.

“Rest assured that we will continue to be a responsible police  force competent to render services and ensure the safety and security of our region. To our deployed troops, your service rendered to the people of SGA are worthy and commended you for this significant contribution to the overall success of this activity,” Tanggawohn concluded.
