The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has announced plans to crack down on vloggers accused of spreading fake news and misinformation, including the controversial online personality known as “Maharlika.”
NBI Director Judge Jimmy Santiago stated that the agency’s cybercrime unit has been closely monitoring the activities of certain vloggers and is now prepared to take legal action. The move comes as concerns grow over the impact of disinformation on public discourse and national stability.
The NBI’s campaign against fake news is also seen as a response to the increasing spread of online attacks and disinformation campaigns targeting public officials and institutions. The agency aims to hold accountable those responsible for misleading the public through false and deceptive content online.
