On August 1, 2024, the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) celebrated the accomplishments of 59 post-graduate interns during a grand graduation ceremony held at the Tagum City Historical and Cultural Center. Among the honorees, Dr. Joainee Madale Limbona, the lone intern from Mindanao State University-College of Medicine (MSU-COM) in Iligan City, stood out by receiving the prestigious Certificate of Recognition as the Outstanding Post Graduate Intern in Radiology.
The ceremony was a significant milestone for the Batch Luminaries 2024, marking the culmination of a rigorous one-year training program that spanned from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024. The graduates represented various cities and provinces, with Dr. Limbona being the only intern from MSU-COM, adding a distinct pride to the occasion.
The event commenced with a traditional academic procession, where the graduates, alongside their proud parents, marched together, symbolizing the end of their challenging yet rewarding journey. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as the graduates prepared to step into their new roles as medical professionals.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates and awards, led by esteemed officials from DRMC. Medical Center Chief Dr. Bryan O. Dalid, along with Dr. Julmin T. Tapserl II, Chief Training Officer, and Dr. Rochelle Bermada Mendoza, PGI Coordinator, were among those who presented the awards to the deserving graduates.
Dr. Limbona’s recognition as the Outstanding Post Graduate Intern in Radiology was particularly noteworthy. Her exceptional academic, clinical, and interpersonal skills during her rotation in the Radiology Department were commended, reflecting her dedication to providing quality, holistic, and patient-centered healthcare. Her achievement not only highlighted her personal excellence but also brought pride to MSU-COM and Iligan City.
In addition to Dr. Limbona, other outstanding interns were also recognized for their achievements in various medical disciplines. Dr. John Edward Legere De La Cruz earned the title of Most Outstanding Post Graduate Intern (Valedictorian) for Batch Luminaries 2024, while Dr. Kristine Joyce Falcon Saragena was awarded Outstanding Intern in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The graduation ceremony was not merely a formal event but a celebration of the dedication, hard work, and resilience displayed by the interns throughout their training. It marked the beginning of their professional medical careers, a journey that promises to be filled with challenges, growth, and continued learning.
