Hermione Ylaya, a student from Lala National High School in Lanao del Norte, emerged as the champion of the Regional Consumer Quiz 2024 held on October 22 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10, this quiz aims to educate and empower young people about consumer rights and responsibilities. This year’s competition featured the top three winners from provincial quizzes across Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental.
Ylaya won a cash prize of P11,000 along with a trophy, and she also received a bar refrigerator from Cagayan de Oro City Councilor George Goking.
The second place was claimed by Lavelia Jane Gementiza from Kiburiao National High School in Bukidnon, who took home P9,000 and a trophy. Neeka Ella Guillero from Gusa Regional Science High School in Cagayan de Oro City secured third place, receiving P7,000 and a trophy.
The DTI-10 Regional Consumer Quiz 2024 is part of the celebrations for Consumer Welfare Month 2024, which carries the theme “Be Smart! Assert Your Consumer Rights!”
