Gov Unabia Spearheads Strategy Workshop for Single-Digit Poverty Goal in the Province

Cebu City Municipal and City Mayors, along with their respective planning officers from the Province of Misamis Oriental gathered in Cebu City to address the imperative task of reducing the current poverty rate of 19% to a single-digit figure by hosting the Single Digit Poverty Incidence (SDPI) 2028 Strategic Formulation Workshop.

Led by the Honourable Provincial Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia, the Single Digit Strategy Formulation Workshop saw the active participation of key figures including 1st District Representative Congressman Christian Unabia and 2nd District Representative Congressman Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano.

The initiative comes in response to Gov. Unabia’s declaration during his recent State of the Province Address, emphasizing the need to bring down the poverty incidence in the province to a single-digit percentage by the year 2028.

Notable attendees included NEDA 10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora, DILG Misamis Oriental Director Engineer Marisia Naybe, and Dr. Dixon Yasay, who served as resource speakers for the workshop.

The workshop serves as a pivotal platform for collaboration, idea exchange, and strategic planning and is aligned with Gov. Unabia’s Paglaum Strategic Agenda, focusing on Participatory Governance as a key element to combat poverty.

As Misamis Oriental strives towards this ambitious goal, the collaboration and commitment demonstrated by the provincial leaders during the workshop lay the groundwork for a concerted effort to improve the economic landscape and quality of life for the province’s residents. (by Gerry Lee Gorit)
