by Noy Adaram

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The family of the victims allegedly kidnapped by the suspect has accepted the (suspect’s) apology and did not push through with filing of kidnapping charges, after both parties were amicably settled at Police Precinct 3 in Agora, this city, police authorities said.

The police identified the suspect as a certain Lex (not his real name), 29-year-old and a resident of Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental.

The two supposed victims were all minors (14 and 7- year-old), a police blotter report said.

Police investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, at around 2:00 am early dawn on March 21, 2024, the two victims reportedly contacted the suspect and asked for a date.

After both of them agreed to have a date, the suspect and the two alleged victims went to Tagoloan and they met at a bar in said municipality.

While they were enjoying themselves at the bar, the suspect received a message from his phone and the messages reportedly accused him of kidnapping the two minors.

After sensing he might be arrested by the police because of false accusations against him by the family of the two minors, Lex accompanied them and brought them back to their place of residence.

Unfortunately, before reaching the home of the two minors, the suspect was mobbed by the relatives of the two minors and some bystanders, and they reportedly took turns beating him.

In an interview with Mindanao Daily, he said while he was being mobbed by many, he did not retaliate as his intention to return the minors safely was true.

Lex also apologized to the immediate family of the minors and said one of the two minors was his girlfriend. And this information was also confirmed by one of the minors, saying that the suspect was her boyfriend.

The police advised both parties to amicably settle which the parties also accepted and the supposed “kidnapping” suspect was set free by the police.

The case was handled successfully by the police’s womens desk section, it was learned.
