Davao City – Supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte gathered for a “Solidarity Walk” in his hometown of Davao City, expressing their continued backing as he faces charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Organized by Duterte’s loyal allies, the event aimed to showcase unity among his supporters and protest the ICC’s decision to prosecute him. The walk was attended by various groups who believe the charges are politically motivated and an attack on Philippine sovereignty.
Vice President Sara Duterte and other members of the Duterte family have been at the forefront of efforts to defend the former president’s legacy. They argue that the ICC’s intervention undermines the country’s judicial system and disregards Philippine autonomy.
The Solidarity Walk is the latest in a series of events held across the country to demonstrate public support for Duterte. As the ICC proceedings continue, more gatherings and protests are expected from his supporters in the coming months.
