JCI Bai Lawanen held a Grandparents Day celebration last August 13 at SM CDO Downtown in Cagayan de Oro City.
“As your Chairperson of the Committee on Senior Citizens, it was a great honor and joy to celebrate Grandparents’ Day today at the SM CDO Downtown Event Center,” Go said. “This celebration is a tribute to our beloved grandparents whose unconditional love, wisdom, sacrifices, and life experiences continue to inspire and strengthen our families and communities.”
The event, which started at 10:00 a.m., formed part of the organizers’ efforts to recognize the important role grandparents play in families and communities.
Organizers described grandparents as among families’ greatest blessings, noting their sacrifices, prayers and unconditional love that help shape succeeding generations.
The organizers emphasized that grandparents’ experiences and values serve as lessons for younger generations, while their strength and guidance provide an important foundation for families.
The event was supported by SM CDO Downtown, Go’s service-oriented initiatives and several JCI organizations and partners, including JCI Bai Lawanen and other local JCI chapters and programs.
With the theme centered on caring for and celebrating grandparents, “Kalinga Para Ky Lolo’t Lola” sought to strengthen bonds between generations and create meaningful memories for senior family members.
The organizers underscored the message that appreciation for grandparents should extend beyond a single celebration, as love and family ties continue to grow across generations.
