BY GERRY LEE GORIT

NAAWAN, Misamis Oriental – Mediaman-turned politician Erwin Tulfo and top officials of the province graced the opening and inauguration of the grandest and biggest municipal hall of the province, the Naawan Municipal Hall, on February 8, 2024.

Naawan Town Mayor Dennis L. Roa thanked Congressman Tulfo for giving his precious time in attending the inauguration.

He also thanked Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M. Unabia, Congressman Yevgeny ‘Bambi” Emano of the 2nd District, and all other dignitaries and guests for all their support of his administration.

“I would like to welcome you all to the blessing and inauguration of our new municipal town hall,” the mayor said.

PLANNING OF THE NEW TOWN HALL

Mayor Roa said the old town hall was constructed in the early 1960s and its floor area was only about 300 square meters located under the 5000 square meter lot of the government.

But now, the floor area was already 3000 square meters, ten times bigger than the old municipal building. Ang atong bag ong munisipyo nia nakatukod sa 6 hectare land.”

He said after 50 years, the municipal town officials under his leadership as mayor, have decided to put up a new building to cater to the needs of the people and visitors of Naawan town.

Mayor Roa and his Sangguniang Bayan members decided to have a loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) to the tune of P180 Million three years ago.

The construction took them several years to finish. “Right now we are inaugurating this new municipal hall, which is ten times bigger than the old one.

This will not be possible today without the help of the Sangguniang Bayan members, and to all the people involved in approving the loan,” the mayor said.

SPEECHES

Congressman Erwin Tulfo challenged the officials of Naawan to truthfully serve the people, most especially the poor sector in society, senior citizens, and the persons with disabilities because they need more help from government officials.

“Kinahanglan diniyos ang atong pagserbisyo sa mga tawo because they can feel and they will surely appreciate it if we relly, really serve them. Please let us help these people especially the little ones, the needy.

Mga pobreng nangangailangan, seniors, single parents and the PWDs,” Tulfo challenges the government employees.

Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M Unabia, for his part, congratulated the efforts of Mayor Roa and his Sangguniang Bayan members. “Guapo kaayo imong lungsod.

Amg building or the infra is just a symbol sa atong pagpangalagad. Congratulations sa inyong tanan,” Unabia said.

The governor also welcomed the guest speaker, Congressman Erwin Tulfo, adding that when the time comes, Erwin will become senator of the country, he appealed to Erwin not to forget the Province of Misamis Oriental.

The governor was very instrumental in reducing the poverty incidence to a single digit for the entire province. He also encouraged the stakeholders of the Laguindingan Airport to continue helping the expansion until it becomes an international airport.
