Building bridges of Peace through “ Kambollayoka”

18th Infantry (Deo et Patria) Battalion under the leadership of COL CYRIL SANTANDER together with United States Institute of Peace USIP,  Strategic Communications and Capacity Building (SCCB) Project, has launched the “Kambollayoka Peace Basketball Series.” This innovative initiative aims to strengthen relationships between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), promoting camaraderie and a shared commitment to peace in BARMM.

SCCB DIRECTOR ALIAH ADAM emphasizes “Kambollayoka”  from Maguindanao and Maranao dialects, “kambolla” translates to “playing ball game,” while “bollayok” signifies “friendship” or “building friendship through basketball.

USIP is dedicated to preventing and resolving conflicts worldwide. Through partnerships with local organizations, USIP empowers communities to manage conflict peacefully and build lasting peace.

Dr. Haroro J. Ingram, USIP Country Representative, emphasizes Kambollayoka  as one of the  efforts towards lasting peace in the BARMM.  

Malik J. Caril, representing the MILF, underscores the critical role of camaraderie in achieving sustainable peace. Adding to the momentum, both the Provincial Government of Basilan and the local military and police leadership have extended their unwavering support to the initiative demonstrating a unified commitment to peacebuilding efforts.

Basilan PNP Provincial Director Carlos Madronio, Tuburan LGU, Lamitan City Government also participated the said event.
