Manila, Philippines – May 22, 2025 — Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has formally submitted her courtesy resignation, following President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive for all Cabinet secretaries to step down in light of a planned government recalibration.
Pangandaman, who has been at the helm of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) since 2022, is known for spearheading fiscal reforms and advocating for digital transformation in public financial management. Her resignation marks another key development in the administration’s post-midterm realignment.
President Marcos announced the call for courtesy resignations to assess Cabinet performance and adjust government direction for the remaining half of his term. According to the Palace, the move is not punitive but aims to ensure that leadership remains aligned with the administration’s evolving goals.
There is no word yet on whether Pangandaman will be retained or replaced, but government officials have stressed that budget operations and services will continue seamlessly during the transition period.
