Faustino “Bojie” Dy III is set to take the helm as House Speaker following Martin Romualdez’s resignation amid corruption allegations. Bojie hails from Isabela’s influential Dy political clan, known for decades of leadership in the province. The Dy family’s grip on Isabela politics spans generations, with Bojie being the third Faustino Dy to rise to prominence.

Bojie’s political career stretches back nearly three decades. He served as Cauayan City Mayor from 1992-2001, Representative of Isabela’s district from 2001-2010, and Governor of Isabela from 2010-2019. Currently, he’s the Representative of Isabela’s 6th District and one of the House’s Deputy Speakers. His affiliation with Partido Federal ng Pilipinas aligns him closely with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

As a legislator, Bojie Dy has filed 25 bills and resolutions in the 20th Congress. Notable among these is his call for investigations into the collapse of the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Bridge in Isabela. His legislative work reflects a focus on local and regional development issues pertinent to his constituency. Dy’s political longevity underscores his adeptness at navigating local power structures.

The Dy family’s political footprint in Isabela extends beyond Bojie. His son Faustino “Inno” Dy V is Mayor of Echague, while daughter-in-law Alyssa Sheena Tan-Dy leads Santiago City. Nephews Ian Paul Dy and Faustino Michael Carlos Dy III also hold congressional seats in Isabela. This network highlights the dynasty’s entrenched position in provincial politics.

With Romualdez’s endorsement, Bojie Dy’s ascension appears imminent, reflecting strategic alliances within the ruling party. As House Speaker, Dy would lead the chamber amid ongoing probes into alleged corruption in government projects. His leadership would mark continuity of ties with the Marcos administration, given his party affiliation and political background in Isabela’s influential circles
