MISAMIS ORIENTAL – A top official of this province has reported a very alarming dengue case in the province.
Talisayan Vice Mayor and Health Consultant Rommel Catamco Maslog has reported that from January to August 2024, there were a total of 2,200 dengue cases recorded, and 22 of these confirmed dengue patients have already died.
Based on the record from Provincial Health Office (PHO), which was also furnished to this paper, the municipality of Claveria City was badly hit with 267 dengue cases, followed by Gingoog City with 218 dengue cases and the municipality of Tagoloan with 189 dengue cases.
He said this rise of dengue counts were usually known during the rainy season, so all municipalities are now instructed to do massive search and destroy operations to eliminate the attacks of mosquitos that bring dengue virus.
“Kung imong tan awon ang data from January to August 2024, alarming na gyud ni kaayo,” If you are going to see the data, this is now very alarming,” the provincial health consultant warned.
Maslog warned parents to be watchful to their children who were frequenting indoors as they might be infected with the dengue virus.
He also alerted health officers in municipalities to lead in conducting massive cleaning in their communities, and destroy those bottles, flower bases and other things which might become the breeding ground of mosquitoes carrying the deadly virus.
Other towns of Misamis Oriental hit by the dengue virus include Alubijid, 92; Balingasag, 127; Balingoan, 32; Binuangan, 4; El Salvador, 98; Gitagum. 23; Initao, 132; Jasaan, 104; Kinoguitan, 14; Lagonglong, 28; Laguindingan, 45; Libertad, 52; Lugait, 65; Magsaysay, 104; Manticao, 95; Medina, 78; Naawan, 69; Opol, 83; Salay, 127; Sugbongcogon, 12; Talisayan, 41; and Villanueva, 101.
