CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (Local Media) – Members of the local media toured the multi-billion projects in the first district of the city, which were the projects lobbied by First District Representative Rolando “Klarex” Uy during his term.
The team toured four (4) of the so-called ‘mega’ projects, including a huge drainage system in Lerio-Mabolo Streets in Barangay Carmen here; the Php500 Million esplanade project located at Ilaya, Carmen village, as well as the river flood control projects in Barangays Lumbia and Iponan.
In a document furnished by the congressional office’ staff, aside from the latter, there is also a 92.12 kilometers road concreting which were farm-to-market roads under the Build,Build,Build project of the Duterte administration, which were already completed, while others are also ongoing. Among the said projects, the biggest is the river esplanade.
According to Mr. Bencyrus Ellorin, Cong. Uy’s head of the media bureau, the said project can give avenue to small entrepreneurs in the city since it is a propose recreational area with facilities – from restos to cafe’s but it can’t be compared to the previous market area dubbed as “Night Cafe” in DvSoria during the administration of then Mayor Vicente Emano.
Ellorin reiterated that this recreational facility is much better than the Night Cafe. The City’s esplanade is a park, where residents of the city can relax and unwind; they can also buy food to eat and other stuff to choose from its kiosk display because esplanade is an open space where people can breathe fresh air along the river.
The river esplanade is part of JICA-funded flood risk management project and the construction is still going on. Unlike the Night Cafe, “the esplanade management will put up portalets to address better sanitation of the area,” Ellorin concluded.
Once it will completed, this will become a popular night spot in the city
