TESDA Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez Submits Courtesy Resignation Following Presidential Directive

In line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s recent call for courtesy resignations from all Cabinet officials, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez has submitted his resignation.

Benitez made the announcement as part of the ongoing effort by the administration to “recalibrate” and strengthen its ranks. In a statement, he affirmed his willingness to comply with the President’s directive, emphasizing his continued dedication to public service.

“We are ready to submit to President Bongbong Marcos our courtesy resignation as Director General of TESDA,” Benitez said. “We are always ready to serve in any capacity, at the pleasure of the President.”

This move is seen as part of a broader government strategy to review and realign leadership positions across various agencies and departments. The President’s request for courtesy resignations is intended to give him flexibility in assessing the performance of his Cabinet members and making necessary adjustments to better serve the public.

TESDA plays a crucial role in the Philippines’ development by providing technical education and skills training to millions of Filipinos, aiming to improve employability and support the country’s workforce development. As the agency’s chief, Benitez has overseen numerous initiatives aimed at upgrading vocational training programs and expanding opportunities for technical education nationwide.

Despite tendering his resignation, Benitez reassured stakeholders and the public that TESDA’s programs and operations will continue without disruption during this period of transition.

President Marcos’ call for courtesy resignations has prompted several other Cabinet members to follow suit as the administration gears up for a potential reshuffle aimed at boosting government efficiency and responsiveness.
