In response to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s recent directive for all Cabinet officials and agency heads to tender courtesy resignations, Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Ernesto V. Perez has voluntarily stepped down from his post.
Perez submitted his resignation on Thursday, aligning with the administration’s call for a full review and restructuring of key leadership roles across government agencies. The President’s initiative is part of a broader effort to realign the government’s priorities and enhance efficiency, particularly in delivering services to the public.
As head of ARTA, Perez was responsible for leading efforts to streamline bureaucratic processes, cut down red tape, and promote ease of doing business in the country. Under his leadership, ARTA has implemented several reforms aimed at simplifying government procedures and reducing delays in the processing of permits and licenses.
Though he has submitted his resignation, Perez reaffirmed his commitment to public service and expressed support for the administration’s ongoing governance reforms.
The Marcos administration’s call for courtesy resignations is widely seen as a major reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance, ensuring accountability, and improving the performance of government agencies amid evolving public demands.
Further announcements regarding leadership changes within ARTA and other agencies are expected in the coming days as the President evaluates the current composition of his Cabinet and key executive posts.
