The Municipal Government of San Miguel in the Province of Surigao del Sur under
the leadership of Hon. Michael T. Corilla, Mayor as Chairperson of the Municipal
Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) successfully launched the Buhay Ingatan,
Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) back to back with the Commencement of the second batch
of the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) on February 20,
2023 at their Municipal Gymnasium in Barangay Poblacion.
During the activity, there were about seventy (70) Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs)
dubbed as “Ka-BIDA” who were assessed by the Municipal Health Office (MHO) for
the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) of the municipality.
An Orientation was also provided to the “Ka-BIDAs” on LGU Intensive Phase
Program where they received a lecture on the ill-effects of drugs. They were also
made a recipient of the Moral and Spiritual Program, Strengthening Family Relations
and others programs of Mayor Corilla, such as the Sports Feast, Computer Training,
Welding, Massage and Liniment Training, and other activities.
The BIDA Launching and the Commencement PWUDs of the 2 nd Batch for CBDRP
was the convergence of effort of the MADAC members with the strong support of
DILG’s Municipal Local Government Operations Officer – LGOO VI Ma. Rosario M.
Ambray and PNP Chief of Police – PMAJ Arnel T Banaken with PCPL Neil
Lastimosa along with the participation of Ms. Myra Tokong, Provincial Population
Officer IV; Municipal Health Officer – Dr. Hannah M. Dapar; MADAC Focal
Person/Municipal Information Officer – Earl Adam Lambaco; MADAC
Secretariat/MPO Designate – Mayvell Trinidad; MSWD Representative – Abegail
Piedad; Barangay Secretaries; Punong Barangays; Sangguniang Bayan (SB)
Member – Hon. Charles Torrefranca; CSO Representative – Bernard Garcia and
DepEd District 1 Supervisor – Norben T. Moldez.
