CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully intercepted an estimated PhP1,384,800.00 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental on April 23, 2025.
At around 10:30 PM, personnel from the 1st Maneuver Platoon, 1001st Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10), in collaboration with the Gingoog City Police Station, Regional Special Operations Unit 10 (RSOU 10), and Intelligence Section of RMFB 10, conducted an intensified checkpoint operation in Purok 3, Brgy. Binakalan, Gingoog City.
During the operation, authorities flagged down a white ISUZU Forward Ref Van Truck, driven by alias “Gin”, 53 years old, a resident of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, accompanied by alias “JM”, 19 years old, a resident of Gitagum, Misamis Oriental.
Upon inspection, police discovered that the truck was loaded with smuggled cigarettes, leading to its seizure. Seized from the vehicle were 486 reams of Delta brand cigarettes, 868 reams of Cannon Menthol brand cigarettes, 377 reams of Champion brand cigarettes, with a total market value of PhP1,384,800.00. All confiscated items, including the vehicle, will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
PBGEN JAYSEN C DE GUZMAN, Regional Director, PRO10, commended the operating units for their vigilance and dedication to duty.
“I commend the coordinated efforts of our maneuver forces, intelligence operatives, and local police. PRO10 will continue to reinforce its checkpoints and conduct law enforcement operations to protect our borders and ensure that violators are held accountable,” he said.
