FIRST WORLD HEALTH SUMMIT REGIONALMEETING 2025 OPENS IN NEW DELHI, INDIA

New Delhi, India, 25 April 2025 — The 2025 regional meeting of the World Health Summit opens today in this capital city of India with the theme: “Scaling Access to Ensure Health Equity”.


This first WHS Regional Meeting in India is hosted and organized by NIMS University with Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Ashoka University as co-hosts of the three-day event, 25-27 April 2025, this was announced by Balvir S. Tomar, WHS Regional Meeting 2025 President and International President of the WHS 2025, founder and chancellor of NIMS University, India.


This year’s theme of the WHS Regional Meeting is designed to foster scientific and political discourse on how to scale quality health care, usually perceived as a privilege, to ensure health equity and uplift the societal well-being.
Tomar said “it is our duty as leaders and advocates of global health governance to come together as we face common challenges of diseases, data governance and demographic challenges”.


World Health Summit President Axel R. Pries said this WHS Regional Meeting aims to build for what promises to be a pivotal gathering of health experts and leaders from around the world to address pressing health challenges, focusing on innovation, equity, and regional solutions with global impact.


India’s increasing role in advancing healthcare, from digital innovations to vaccine production, makes New Delhi an optimal host city for this important discourse. The discussions will not only highlight regional approaches and achievements but also foster international partnerships essential for tackling global challenges such as pandemic preparedness, universal health coverage, and climate-related health risks, Pries said.
“Our hosts, NIMS University, along with the co-hosts, Ashoka University and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, have put together a comprehensive, exciting and insightful program.

The substantial number of outstanding speakers from India, the region and all continents representing academia, politics, the private sector and civil society will foster impactful discussions on global health challenges and will make the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025 in New Delhi a truly meaningful gathering for all of us,” The WHS President said.


Leaders from India, across Asia, and around the world from various sectors, disciplines and cultures will exchange knowledge, spark new partnerships, inspire fresh research avenues and explore policies aimed at achieving impactful improvements in health outcomes.
Among the toipics on the agenda are digital and AI futures, health diplomacy and cooperation, healthcare workforce, innovation and leadership for health equity and planetary health.


“We encourage you to be part of this vital exchange. Working together for a healthier life on this planet is more relevant than ever”, Pries added.
