A large group of supporters of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte gathered outside the International Criminal Court (ICC) headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands, following his appearance before the court. The rally, attended by Filipinos from various parts of Europe, was organized to show solidarity with Duterte as he faces charges related to his administration’s “war on drugs.”
Prominent figures including Vice President Sara Duterte, Senator Robin Padilla, and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque are expected to join the demonstration at Laan van Reagan en Gorbatsjov in The Hague. The gathering serves both as a show of support for the former president and a protest against the ICC proceedings.
Duterte’s supporters argue that the charges against him are politically motivated, maintaining that he is innocent of any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, the ICC has scheduled a hearing in September to assess whether sufficient evidence exists to move forward with a trial.
The case against Duterte continues to be a highly debated issue, drawing reactions both in the Philippines and internationally as legal proceedings unfold.
