CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police authorities have already identified the third fatality of the deadly bus-truck collision in Maputi, Naawan Misamis Oriental.
The male dead body was confirmed by police investigators as Matthew Molina, a second year nursing student of Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City.
Molina’s classmates, the police said, went to their station and positively identified the third fatality to be their classmate. Molina was earlier tagged as unidentified and even the attending doctors at the hospital could not identify him.
Molina was among the three victims of the deadly collision that was declared by attending doctor Willy Gunhuran as dead on arrival (DOA) at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital based in Naawan municipality. The other two fatalities were identified as Anthony V Reyes, Jasper C Haim.
The police report said there were 51 passengers of the bus when they left Cagayan de Oro early dawn on August 25, 2024.
At press time, the bus was already lifted by a crane owned by the Misamis Oriental-1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-1) from the ravine, where it fell due to the impact of the collision.
The Super 5 bus company has announced to shoulder all hospital expenses and help those injured passengers of the accident.
