Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy personally attended to 2,575 residents of Barangay Canitoan on Monday, July 20, during the People’s Day program held in the barangay.
The event began with a flag-raising ceremony, where Mayor Klarex Uy spoke about the true meaning of public service.
“Ang pagpanerbisyo dili lamang taman sa buhatan. Kung ikaw matinud-anon nagpakabana, naghunahuna ug nagpa-ambit sa pag-alagad sa katawhan, kinahanglan monaug aron makig-uban ka sa katawhan aron masayran nimo ang ilang mga gikinahanglan. Kung matinud-anon ka, dili lang sa panahon sa piniliay nga magpakita ka sa katawhan sa mga kabarangayan kondili sa pribilihiyo nga gihatag sa katawhan kay ikaw naa kay kahigayunan nga madungog ang ilang mga paningahanglan. Kung matinud-anon ka nga moserbisyo, mogahin ka og adlaw para sa katawhan, dal-on nimo ang serbisyo nga makatabang sa mga katawhan ilabina sa kabarangayan ilabina sa pinakalayo nga sitio, imong ipatagamtam ang serbisyo sa gobyerno kay wala’y lain nga gituohan gilauman nila kon dili ang gobyerno ra ang sayun nila maduolan,” Uy said.
The Barangay Canitoan Council, led by Barangay Captain Lancelot Borja Padla, welcomed Mayor Klarex Uy along with representatives from the various offices of City Hall.
Also present in support of the program were City Councilor Al Legaspi Sr., City Councilor Roger Abaday, and City Councilor George Christopher Goking.
Among the primary services provided to Barangay Canitoan residents were medical assistance, wheelchair distribution, free medicines, and assistance with inquiries regarding scholarships, job applications, late birth registration, business permit renewal, and other government services.
Young children also received free lollipops, while families were given five kilograms of rice, personally donated by Mayor Klarex Uy’s family.
Mayor Klarex Uy’s People’s Day program aims to demonstrate his commitment to genuine public service for all Kagay-anons.
