Cagayan de Oro-To ensure the the poverty incident in the province of Misamis Oriental into single digit, the provincial government through the Provincial Agriculture Research Office (PAGRO) said that they will adopt a new technology on rice and corn production patterned in Indonesia.
Board Member Rey Buhisan; Chairman of the Committed on Agriculture of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan(SP) said that he together with Governor Peter Unabia and PAGRO Chief Dr.Benjie Resma went to Indonesia last October 2023 for a study tour and want to pattern a technology they studied there.
A team of Indonesian Agriculturists will visit the province within this quarter to have an ocular inspection in the identified demo farms in the province such as Magsaysay,Gingoog City,Balingasag and Claveria in the east,El Salvador City,Alubijid,Gitagum and Lugait in the west.
He added that there’s already an identified 25 hectares in area for Demo Farm in the town of Balingasag for an Inclusive Growth Development strategy were in farm produced will be exclusively distributed in the 23 towns and 2 cities of the province.
The provincial government and PAGRO signed a pact with First Community Cooperative (FICCO) which is the biggest cooperative in Mindanao for a Rice Processing Plant in preparation with the new technology that they will implement patterned from Indonesia.
Indonesia is the most successful rice and corn producer in the South East Asian Nations second to Vietnam in the whole Asia.
The said rice processing will be assisted by Philmech that will build a rice mill for Fico.
The Inclusive Growth Development Concept of the province will produced its own Agricultural products that aside from rice and corn,they will also produced its own livestock and poultry products.
Misamis Oriental is also a Coconut hub of Northern Mindanao,that produces quality young coconut juice for export.
In anticipation with the growth of coconut industry in the province, the provincial government established a 10 hectares Coconut Seed Farm in Magsaysay town.
