BY ASANGAN T. MADALE

Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur – In a concerted effort to bolster peace and order within local communities, the 53rd Infantry Battalion (53IB) of the Philippine Army, in collaboration with Local Government Units (LGU), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the provincial government, conducted a Continuing Barangay Legal Education Program (CBLEP) on February 27, 2024. The event took place at the Municipal Gym in Barangay Gumahan, Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur.

The program, aptly named “Reinforcing the Roles of Barangay Tanods as First Responders and in Crime Scene Preservation,” aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to enhance their effectiveness in maintaining peace and order within their respective barangays.

Covering a comprehensive array of topics including Basic Patrol Operations, Information and Intelligence Report Writing, Basic Execution of Arnis, Basic Combat Skills, and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, the training program witnessed active engagement from two hundred eighty (280) Barangay Tanods.

This collaborative initiative underscores the commitment of the 53IB, local government units, the DILG, and the provincial government to empower local communities and ensure the safety and security of all residents of Zamboanga del Sur.
