Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) opened its doors to a new state-of-the-art auditorium to mark the beginning of the academic year. The newly renovated facility, which will serve as a venue for school assemblies and small classroom set-ups, aims to enhance the learning experience of Mapúa MCM students on campus. It will also be a hub where learners can express their creativity, showcase their ideas, enhance their learning, and collaborate among their peers.
The 1,074–square meter black box theatre-type conference hall boasts a configurable, contiguous space that can be readily modified to suit intimate meetings or large gatherings. Outfitted with a minimalist, neutral palette and the latest audio-visual system and connectivity, the hall is conducive to both learning and recreation.
“We know the impact of a conducive learning environment on education, so we continually enhance our facilities and equipment. The latest auditorium upgrade will enhance our campus environment, facilitate better learning, and help build a stronger sense of community among Mapúa Malayans,” said Mapúa MCM’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Alejandro H. Ballado, Jr.
Designed by Ar. Edwin Valledor, the event hall is composed of six separate rooms with soundproof movable partitions that can be divided or combined depending on the crowd size or event requirements. It can comfortably seat 1,000 students in a large conference set-up or 120 in a classroom setting.
This flexible floor plan guarantees an efficient traffic flow during events; thus, attendees are not crowded during important affairs such as graduation ceremonies, competitions, and symposia. It also enables the school to host multiple activities and functions simultaneously.
Mapúa MCM learners can also appreciate the comfortable lounge a few meters outside the main hall. Here, they can interact and converse with friends and teachers or study and do schoolwork. During events, the space may also be converted into a reception, activity area, or private exhibit space.
A sweeping waiting and study area where Mapúa Malayans can meet and do schoolwork while enjoying an uninterrupted view of the campus grounds is strategically positioned beside the auditorium to maximize the surroundings.
The upgraded, industrial engineer-approved auditorium on the fourth floor of the Admin Building is just one of the cutting-edge facilities available at Mapúa MCM.
