CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City — Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully intercepted an estimated PhP760,000.00 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Lanao Del Norte during a joint law enforcement operation at the Bauyan Border Control Point, Brgy. Bauyan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on June 26, 2025.

Personnel from the 2nd Platoon, 1005th MC RMFB 10, in collaboration with the SND MPS and the 2nd PMFC LDN PPO, flagged down a metallic gray Toyota Innova loaded with suspected illicit goods during a Regional Border Control Checkpoint Operation that began at around 11:55 AM.

Upon approaching the checkpoint, the unidentified driver immediately abandoned the vehicle and fled to an unknown location, seemingly to avoid arrest.

SMUGGLED CIGARETTES IN LANAO DEL NORTE

Authorities confiscated six master cases of White New Far cigarettes, twelve master cases of White Canon cigarettes, and one cellophane containing 50 reams of White New Far cigarettes, with a total estimated market value of PhP760,000.00.

Accordingly, the confiscated cigarettes were allegedly sourced from Pikong or Piraka, Lanao del Sur, and were en route to SND, Lanao del Norte.

The confiscated items have been temporarily under the custody of the SND Municipal Police Station and will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Iligan City for proper disposition.
PBGEN ROLINDO M SUGUILON, Regional Director, PRO10, lauded the vigilance and coordination of the operating units, emphasizing the continuing effort of PRO10 in supporting the national campaign against smuggling.

“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to intensify border security measures and prevent the illegal entry of smuggled goods into our region. We commend our personnel for their swift action and encourage the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities,” he said.

The Regional Director also reiterated that the manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing and that PRO10 remains steadfast in pursuing all individuals engaged in smuggling and other illicit trade.
