NUNUNGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–A reenactment of the real-life struggles and successes of Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay will be featured in a bio film to inspire people that poverty is not a hindrance to success.

The movie “Mamay: The Great Man of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte” shows how the mayor made it through his early life, from working hard to finish school despite problems like rido (family feuds) and selling ukay-ukay to becoming a great public servant.

The film is directed and written by award-winning director Neal ‘Buboy’ Tan. He said they will join the International Film Festival and screen the film in schools. The cast of the movie also went to Nunungan town for the filming.

Actors Jeric Raval and Victor Neri were happy to be part of the film to feature Muslim culture and promote Mindanao.

“Ngayon lang din ako gagawa ng pelikula sa kultura ng ating mga kapatid na Muslim. Isang karangalan na gawin ko ang life story ni Mayor Mamay,” said Raval, who will portray the character of Mayor Mamay.

Being a proud Mindanaon, Victor Neri also emphasized that Mindanao has a lot to offer and that there are a lot of good stories that can be featured in Mindanao.

“Marami pong magagandang istorya ang mindanao. Hindi lang naman gyera, hindi lang naman gulo. ‘Yung landscape niya maganda sa camera,” said Neri, who will act as the rido rival for Mayor Mamay.

Also included in the movie are Ali Forbes, Julio Diaz, Devon Sero, Dennis Coronel, Ron Angeles, Shiela Delgado, and Toni Co.
