LDSPPO logs drop in crime volume in 1Q 2023

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)—The crime volume in Lanao del Sur dropped to 109 in the first quarter of 2023 from 135 in the same quarter last year.

PMaj Muhiddin Pagayawan, chief operations officer of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDSPPO), said 37% or 40 of the total incidents are focus crimes.

He added that murder registered the most number of incidents among the eight focus crimes. The focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, motorcycle theft, vehicle theft, and rape.

Pagayawan said the 19 murder cases are shooting incidents mostly linked to rido or family feuds.

The crime clearance efficiency for the quarter is 67.41%, while the crime solution efficiency is 53.21%.

“The crime clearance efficiency means that the suspects were identified and cases were filed before the prosecutor’s office, while the crime solution efficiency means that incidents have been solved, the suspects were identified, cases were filed, and the suspects were arrested and placed behind bars,” he explained.

The LDSPPO, on the other hand, made it clear that it will keep up its fight against illegal drugs and other kinds of crime in the province. It will further intensify its law enforcement operation on loose firearms.

In line with the upcoming observance of Ramadhan, Pagayawan said they will strengthen police visibility in Marawi City and the municipalities of Ditsaan Ramain, Saguiaran, Marantao, Balindong, Wao, Malabang, and Balabagan. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
