Misamis Oriental 2nd District Congressman Bambi Emano on Monday reported that Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista is now looking for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Contact for the realization for many transport projects in the country, and that includes the Laguindingan Airport to be upgraded into an international standard as originally planned.This we learned from him during the 100 days report of Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia at the Capitol ground here which he is also in attendance.
He said that Secretary Bautista came in the city Monday morning for a meeting with local officials and revealed that there are 10 regional airports that will be upgraded, expanded and operated under the PPP scheme.Emano in his 100 days of being a representative in the congress for the 2nd district of Misamis Oriental province said that the upliftment of Laguindingan airport is his top priority that’s why he always pushing in the legislative house for the latter to be upgraded as it will bacon the economic situation in the province.
In a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Poverty incidence Poverty incidence report yesterday here, Poverty incidence in Northern Mindanao rises to 19.2 percent in 2021 compare to 17.3 percent in 2018. Misamis Oriental is the gateway of Northern Mindanao and always Laguindingan Airport and Macabalan Port are the point of entry to the 5 provinces of Region 10.
Added that Bautista reported that other airports included in the 10 priorities includes Bohol-Panglao, Siargao and Busuanga Airports, Bicol , Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Bacolod-Silay, and Kalibo International Airports.
If we recall, Congressman Bambi Emano filed House Bill No. 3754 upgrading Laguindingan Airport into an International Airport.
