Infra-projects pour for IP communities in BARMM; constructions underway


COTABATO CITY—Bangsamoro Government has initiated the construction of infrastructure projects for indigenous communities in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte, with construction underway in various towns in both provinces this month of March.
 
The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA) broke ground for the construction of seven (7) infrastructure projects funded by the Special Development Fund (SDF) 2022.
 
The projects include the construction of two (2) Tribal Halls in Brgy. Tubak and Kauran in Ampatuan, and one (1) Tribal Hall in Brgy. Limpongo in Datu Hoffer, all in Maguindanao del Sur. Additionally, three (3) Water System Level II projects will be built in Brgy. Renede, Brgy. Kabakaba, and Brgy. Kibukay in Upi, Maguindanao del Norte, along with one (1) Warehouse and Solar Dryer in Brgy. Labungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
 
The Tribal Halls are valued at P5,100,000 each, while each Water System Level II project amounts to P5 million, and the Warehouse and Solar Dryer cost P2,469,800.
 
Aligned with Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim’s advocacy to bring services and inclusivity to grassroots levels, Brgy. Tubak’s tribal chieftain Sultan Nestor Bualao thanked the Government of the Day for their assistance to IP communities.
 
“These projects will provide opportunities for the Menubu Dulangan community in Brgy. Tubak. The Tribal Hall will be utilized for traditional methods, including conflict resolution,” Bualao said.
 
Additionally, MIPA has turned over two Water System Level II projects in Brgy. Renede and Brgy. Kinitaan in Upi, one Warehouse with Multi-purpose Pavement in Brgy. Sifaran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, one Office of Traditional and Tribal Justice Hall in Brgy. Badak, DOS, and one IP Peace Hall in Brgy. Taliwasa, Datu Abdullah Sangki, under SDF 2020 and 2021.
