MANILA, Philippines – Senator Imee Marcos has officially withdrawn from the administration-backed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas (ABP), citing differences over key political issues.
The senator, who is the sister of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., confirmed her decision to leave the coalition, emphasizing that she will maintain her independence moving forward.
Her departure follows growing speculation about her position within ABP, particularly after President Marcos failed to mention her name during recent campaign events.
Adding to tensions, Marcos spearheaded a Senate inquiry into the controversial arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, raising legal and constitutional concerns over the issue.
