Either Zamboanga City 1st District Representative Khymer Adan Olaso is committing suicide or he is without sin. Without malice, I would like to believe that Olaso is already fed up of the extent of corruption in the country. If you have been transacting business with our government agencies, then you are a liar to say it is not that bad at all.
The last 3 years or so, I have been doing something that necessitate transacting business with a lot of government agencies. I tell you, napakasarap pumatay ng tao. Harap-harapan na at garapalan pa.
Lim Seng was executed for drug ala Rizal. It sent ripples of fear that drug evaporated into thin air. Perhaps HB 11211 will do the trick. Otherwise, I pray some quarters will organize a hit squad to do the job.
Am I kidding? Not at all. When ordinary people pay their taxes only to be stolen by corrupt and greedy politicians, when transactions with government are intentionally made complicated and tedious, when government documents are taking time to be accomplished because somehow people have to shell out grease money, I tell you, you will only want these people to go behind bars, imprisoned for good.
Once we have a group of idealistic people going after corrupt people, a volunteer group whose intention is to help in addressing corruption in the government at all level.
We did our job well for more than 3 months and came up with 56 names. Well, there were people who don’t like what we’re doing. Nothing came out of our efforts. The group eventually disbanded, leaving only a very few who are still willing to help.
HB 11211 is a voice in the wilderness. It won’t see the light of the day, not with the kind of people in congress, not with the kind of president we have.
I support HB 11211. Maybe I would also pray that during the delivery of the State of the Nation Address, an earthquake of big magnitude will rock the House of Congress exclusively. Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joke about it. I hope for it. Puwera lang sa mga matitino.
In fact, what we are witnessing today are not just mere or petty corruption but one with impurity. It makes me wonder whether our supposed defenders are still sleeping or, are they already sleeping with the enemies.
Corruption today are worse than the pandemic of yesteryears. It’s going to kill gently and slowly and without pity.
Patriotism is lost. Delicadeza is dead. Honesty is a thing of the past. So, what are we going to teach our children? What legacy do we intend to leave or for the next generation to inherit?
You tell me, Pinog.
