Surrendered MisOcc rebel receives 500K cash aid from Governor Oaminal

P500,000 in cash assistance was granted by the Misamis Occidental Provincial Government to the latest rebel returnee in Misamis Occidental on Saturday.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal led the handover of the amount to the former rebel aliased ‘Cesar,’ joined by Philippine Army officials MGen. Antonio Nafarrete, 10th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Jose Andre Monje, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Elmer Scuderio.

“Cesar’s courageous return to our community is another win for Misamis Occidental’s peace and order initiatives, in line with the provincial thrust of our 5Ms.” said Gov. Oaminal.

The ‘5Ms’ or ‘Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon’ (Misamisnon Live Peaceful, Prosperous and Happy) is one of Gov. Oaminal’s flagship initiatives for the province. One of the key priorities of this platform, according to Gov. Oaminal, “is to find an end to the insurgency and conflict in Misamis Occidental.”

“In granting him our assistance, we aim to send a message to other rebels that they, too, can return to the fold of the law anytime, and live in harmony with our countrymen,” Gov. Oaminal added.
