Gov Unabia backs Dumadag for mayor in Villanueva town

VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental – Governor Peter “Sr. Pedr” M. Unabia is backing for the second time the candidacy of former Board member Vergilia “Bebing” Dumadag to be the next mayor of the municipality of Villanueva.

Thousands of supporters joined Dumadag when she filed her candidacy yesterday October 7, 2024 at the local comelec office, alongside with her whole line up, including vice mayoralty candidate Isoc Nalagan Casiño. Dumadag ran for mayor under th Paglaum-Padayon-Pilipino Lakas CMD political party.

To show their full support for the candidacy of Dumadag, she was also joined by Governor Unabia and his wife Erlinda Unabia, Vice Gov Jeremy Jonahnar “Jigjag” Pelaez, Cong. Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano (2nd district), Cong. Christian S. Unabia of the First District, Misor Board members and the mayors of the different municipalities.

In his speech, Governor Unabia urged all the Barangay captains and the electorates to support the candidacy of mayoralty candidate Bebing Dumadag since the people of Villanueva needs a new leadership. 

He said with the total support of Congressmen Unabia and Emano more projects will be given to the municipality. “Daghan kaayo mga mejoras ang nagahulat kaninyo busa atong suportahan ang atong bag-ong mayor,” he said.

For her part, mayoralty candidate Dumadag told the media that she is also following the agenda of the Unabia leadership so that alleviating poverty in Villanueva is also one of her main objectives.

“If given a chance to become mayor, I will see to it that the poorest of the poor in Villanueva town will be top priority. I will make sure that livelihood programs will be the centerpiece of my administration,” Dumadag told reporters.

She also envisioned developing tourism in Villanueva so that the economic activity of the town will start helping the people to start their small businesses to offer to visitors.

She also believes that a well-developed tourism would create job generation for many people in Villanueva, aside from other job opportunities that would surely make the economy move forward.

“I hope the people will realize that they need to change leadership if they want more developments in Villanueva town. With the backing of the good governor and two congressmen we will be able to give more developments and livelihood programs for all the people,” she concluded.

Dumadag also urged the people of Villanueva to support the Paglaum-Padayon-Pilipino Lakas CMD political party Board member bets in the second district namely 1. Dexter B. Yasay 2. Syramae Emano, 3. Nancy Madjos, 4. Pancy Acain, and 5. Meraluna L. Salvaleon – Abrogar and first district 1. Rommel C Maslog 2. Jabi I. Bernaldez 3. Marlon Kho 4. Roy Aniscal 5. Rey Buhisan.
