Finance Secretary Ralph Recto Submits Courtesy Resignation in Line with Marcos’ Directive

Manila, Philippines – May 22, 2025 — Finance Secretary Ralph Recto has announced his full support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call for courtesy resignations from all Cabinet secretaries and has submitted his own resignation.

Recto stated that this move reflects a commitment to the administration’s broader effort to review and realign government leadership following the recent midterm elections. His resignation is part of the ongoing process aimed at recalibrating government performance and priorities.

The Department of Finance (DOF) chief has been a key figure in steering fiscal policy and economic management in the Marcos administration. While it remains to be seen whether Recto will be reappointed, Malacañang has assured that essential government functions will continue without disruption.

Recto expressed confidence that the President’s directive would lead to improved governance and a renewed focus on serving the Filipino people.
