A recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia revealed that nearly half of Filipinos disagree with the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte. However, a separate survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS) found that 41% of Filipinos actually support the impeachment, while 35% oppose it, and 19% are undecided.
The SWS survey, which polled 2,160 respondents from December 12 to 18, 2024, also highlighted significant regional and socio-economic divides. Support for impeachment was strongest in Luzon outside Metro Manila, where 50% of respondents endorsed the move, while opposition was highest in Mindanao, with 56% against the impeachment.
The survey also noted that the primary concern for those supporting the impeachment was the unexplained spending of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education. Other concerns included Duterte’s refusal to cooperate with investigations and accusations of ill-gotten wealth.
