As I prepare to assume the governorship of the District, I also bid goodbye to public service as City Legal Officer of the City Government of Valencia which I have held since 2016.

It has been a decade of remarkable achievements for the City of Valencia, characterized by unprecedented growth, deep administrative reforms, relative peace, sound pandemic response, expansive social services, soaring investor confidence, and a widespread “build, build, build” program.

Under the able and compassionate leadership of my boss Mayor Azucena “Sunny” P. Huervas, the City has not only received 7 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Awards, it has also been elevated to a 1st Class Component City while solidifying its status as the commercial hub of Bukidnon and one of the leading economies of Region 10.

The City Government of Valencia has been an active partner, too, of many high-impact and sustainable projects of Rotary through the years.

I thank all those who have worked with me this past decade, especially my hard working staff at the City Legal Office. I’m extremely proud of what we have accomplished together.

As I close this unforgettable chapter and return to private practice, I am reminded of the Object of Rotary which is to foster high ethical standards in profession and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
