Education and Love for the World

Dr. DJUWARI

A friend of mine, Chen Xuan, always stated in her social media. And, I always remember this quote. “In the blue wide ocean, we meet, and then, love exists. A person we meet is not by coincidence but it has a purpose. From this, love grows.” Chen Xuan is one of business women who loves doing online business in Asia. She also always tries to do the way how to love the customers for creating their service satisfaction.

Love can be created intentionally by human beings throughout the world. It is essential for the schools to teach the kids or students about Love. As described in a finding of a research by Jasinski, I., & Lewis, T. E. (2016), educational theorists from Plato to Freire, bell hooks, and Peter McLaren underscore the importance of love in education. They focus often on specific types like erotic or caring love. In contrast, they have explored in their research that a novel perspective by delving into the types of love can shape the good teacher-student relationship.

Love is the only thing that heals on a heart level. It emphasizes the profound and transformative impact of love in the context of education. Love also suggests that it can play a central role in nurturing a child’s emotional well-being and personal growth. What is it?

First of all, it deals with an emotional healing, According to Fitzgibbons, R. (1998), love has the power to heal emotional wounds. For example, when a child faces difficulties like bullying, sickness, or depression, they may experience feelings of isolation, fear, and sadness. When they get love, in the form of parental or caregiver support, they can gain a comforting and safe space for them to express their emotions. It reassures them that they are not alone in their struggles.

Love can boost self-esteem: Love which is expressed through encouragement, affirmation, and positive attention, can significantly boost a child’s self-esteem. When children feel loved and valued, they are more likely to develop a positive self-image. This sense of self-worth can act as a protective shield against the negative effects of bullying or the challenges of illness and depression.

Love can also create understanding and empathy (Bailey, O., 2022). Teaching children about the concept of love and its benefits can foster their emotional intelligence. When parents or teachers explain the importance of love, empathy, and compassion, children or their students can better understand their own emotions. It can also understand others better. Therefore, education system and the curriculum can also be created to create love.

Love can also create healthy relationships. Educating children about love also contributes to their ability to form healthy relationships in the future. They learn about the importance of respect, trust, and kindness in their interactions with others. This knowledge can help prevent or address issues like bullying, as children are more likely to cultivate positive connections with their peers.

In general, love is the only thing that heals on a heart level. It can also underscores the pivotal role of love in education. Love has the potential to heal emotional wounds, nurture self-esteem, enhance understanding, and build resilience. In addition, love can also promote healthy relationships. When children experience love and are taught about its benefits, they are better equipped to navigate the challenges they encounter in their educational journey and in life as a whole.

The role of education, in this digital era and information turbulence, is pivotal in making the schools or colleges become the home sweet home for teaching their kids or students about love. This disruptive era requires all the nations to be balanced. Therefore, education should address this critical problem.
