CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) –- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Cagayan de Oro invite jobseekers, particularly fresh graduates, to participate in the 122nd Labor Day ‘Mega Job Fair’ scheduled for May 1 at the Event Hall of SM CDO Downtown Premier, as this could offer a pathway to their desired careers.

“For first-time jobseekers, some of these jobs won’t pay much, but it is still a good start. We all started somewhere in our career journey,” said DOLE-10 assistant regional director Russel A. Jallorina during the Talakayan sa PIA.

He disclosed that approximately 9,379 job opportunities await job seekers at the job fair. Of these, 5,775 are local positions offered by 73 companies across various sectors such as construction, customer service, hospitality, and transportation. Additionally, 3,604 overseas jobs are also available from 12 recruitment agencies.

To streamline the application process, DOLE encourages jobseekers to complete the Job Applicants’ Pre-Registration via the provided link: . Detailed job vacancy information can be accessed through the official DOLE NorthMin Facebook Page.

PESO manager Kathleen Kate D. Sorilla encourages fresh graduates to seize the opportunity if their qualifications match the job requirements.

“As long as the qualification suits you, grab the chance because who knows that would be your start for the career that you would really want to have in the future,” she said.

As part of the Labor Day festivities, DOLE-10 will host a ‘Fun Run: Dagan para sa Mamumuo’ on May 1 in Cagayan de Oro City, with proceeds supporting Balay Paglaum for Children in Conflict with the Law and Leupapo (Leukemia Parents and Patients Organization) Inc.

Furthermore, DOLE-10 will distribute government assistance through its programs. This includes the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), providing P35,384,000 to benefit 1,805 recipients; Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) worth P82,964,643 to 9,330 beneficiaries; and the Government Internship Program (GIP) worth P214,000 to 50 beneficiaries.

Other activities for Labor Day are skills demonstration by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), a tripartite partnership awarding ceremony, and the launch of DOLEkula Season 4.
