It is difficult to conceptualize and measure the competence of a mayor if one has nothing but politics in one’s mind instead of genuine public service.
So far, not one in the past was able to come up with a master development plan for our city. As the years go by, all we see are improvements of the existing.
If it is lack of foresight, then our cramming city will be one like a can of sardines.
Cagayan de Oro City is undeniably growing. Thanks to Sendong. It was Sendong that made that big piece of land uptown to what it is today.
High rise edifices are mushrooming. It has become a trend to build multi-level building. Some are towering over the city landscape. And what do we see down below? Flood, traffic congestion, garbage, mendicants in the streets, these are but a few of what our city is going through.
I can’t recall any who took pain to come up with a master plan for our drainage system to mitigate flooding or effective traffic lights to address traffic congestion. Almost all of them, except a few, have politics as their priority. After winning the election, they undertake projects that are neither beneficial to the people nor for geographical development of the city.
Divisoria is one such place that has gone through changes every time a new mayor is elected. The amphitheater is another. They city hall, the Gaston park, etc, their renovations are more for money making than for any other reason.
I hope one day, Cagayanon will elect one of their own who will take the cudgel to bring about a city we all dream of. A genuine public servant, not a politician.

The power of media makes you believe what is not. US is spending billions of dollars on black propaganda against China and other nations, selling lies about war being planned by China against another nation.
No, we don’t need a microscope to see what the US is doing. For one, US has more or less one thousand military bases and facilities spread around the globe. Why are they there in the first place?
Look at the United States today. They no longer produce or manufacture goods as they used to, to feed their people, to make their living condition comfortable. They can’t even maintain their infrastructures like subways, highways, etc. All they know is manufacture weapons and create war to sell them. War is good business alright. Human lives are collateral damage.
We are on the road to perdition, to another Ukraine, to be the fodder for American guns, to become colonial slaves again. We are being manipulated by America to go to war against a giant dragon. And we are still sleeping over a potential arm conflict that could destroy our country and massive death and destruction.
Take note, our Philippines is not even as big as one province of China. Our population is just a fraction of China’s 1.4 billion. Our army is but a mote or a speck compared to theirs. Our weaponry is no match to theirs and won’t last long enough to inflict damage on the enemy. So, why are we itching to go to war? Is it because it is what the US wants or tells us to do?
Are we missing something? Our Asian neighbors have the same territorial dispute with China but are not as belligerent as we are. Why? Because they talk and are not under dictation from the US.
To date, we have more than 10 US military bases/facilities around the country. They are not here to protect us but to use us against China. America has been successful in drumming up the South China Sea issue to lure us into an arm conflict with our neighbor. It’s a win for the US. They sell us weapons and make money, they will likely rehabilitate our country when flattened by war and make more money and we will be indebted to them, thus holding us by the neck. You don’t see this coming, don’t you?
