Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has arrived in the Netherlands, where he will be taken to a hospital and the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center. According to reports, Duterte will be given the opportunity to choose whether he wants to be placed under house arrest.
Duterte’s arrest is in connection with his alleged involvement in killings that took place during his administration. The ICC issued an arrest warrant against Duterte on March 7, 2025.
Duterte’s lawyer has stated that his client is innocent and is ready to face the charges against him. On the other hand, critics of Duterte have expressed concern over the killings that took place during his administration.
Duterte’s case is set to be heard at the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands. A decision on the case has not yet been announced.
